Questions
The things people ask me first
Short answers. Your own case may turn on a detail, so call or text if something here doesn't fit.
Who do you take as clients?
Service members and their families, in any branch, active duty, Guard or Reserve. I take courts-martial, separation and reprimands, and military divorce. For anything else I'll say so and point you elsewhere.
Do I still keep my military defense lawyer?
Yes. A detailed defense lawyer is assigned at no cost, and you keep them. I'm an addition you pay for.
Will my command find out I called you?
Not from me. What you tell me is confidential, and I don't contact anyone in your chain of command without your permission.
Can I send you the paper by photo?
Yes, once we've spoken. Use your own phone, not a government device, and don't send it through a work account.
What does the first call cost?
Nothing. I tell you what the paper is, how long you have and what I'd charge. A paper review is a flat fee, and a case is a written fee.
Do you take cases outside Texas?
Courts-martial are federal and follow service members wherever they are. For a divorce, I'll tell you on the first call whether I can take it or need to refer you.
What do the monthly plans include?
Calls and texts, and a read of any counseling statement, reprimand or Article 15 before you answer. They don't cover representation at a hearing, a board or a trial.
What happens if I can't pay all at once?
Ask. Fees for a case can often be paid in installments, and I'll say so in the agreement.
